What I do
Having driven a variety of projects to completion and worked with a wide range of stake holders, I look for challenges and opportunities to advance an organization's agenda. The rock that needs to be pushed, the mountain climbed, the bridge built. I particularly look for those puzzles that seek to improve patient outcomes with technology, whether directly or though supporting those who treat patients.
That bridge need not always be purely a technical project. I'm not just the "IT Guy." I have enjoyed working with other groups to make projects successful. Whether coordinating and supporting corporate events such as trade shows and golf tournaments, to speaking at various events, to developing a variety of marketing materials, I try to have either myself or my team involved. It shouldn't limit itself to traditional IT roles, but rather look for opportunities to bring our experience and knowledge to the table.
I also enjoy the privacy and security puzzle. Always pieces to be matched to the appropriate situation, I look to solve the piece not only correctly, but in the right order that makes sense for the organization. I have been a part of a variety of state and regional privacy initiatives, as well as spoken at various conference and organizations about privacy and security concerns.
I have been successful in both corporate, structured environment, but if in newer areas I have been equally successful where I've had to trail-blaze and develop from scratch.
